Soil Test in Huntsville & Madison, AL
Stop guessing. A soil test shows what your lawn has, what it is missing, and what to do about it.
Overview
A soil test is a lab analysis of samples taken from your lawn that measures pH and key nutrient levels. The results show whether your soil is too acidic, what it is short on, and what it does not need, so any lime or treatment is based on facts instead of guesswork. It is the right first step for a lawn that struggles despite good care.
North Alabama note: North Alabama's red clay is often acidic, and pH and nutrient levels can change from one yard to the next on the same street. A test takes the guesswork out before you spend money on lime, seed, or sod.

Soil Test: Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my lawn need a soil test?
Soil that is too acidic or short on nutrients cannot grow thick grass no matter how well it is mowed and watered. A test tells you what is going on underground, which saves money on products your lawn does not need and points to the ones it does.
How often should soil be tested?
Every two to three years is a good rhythm for most lawns, or sooner if you are correcting a problem and want to check progress. Testing before a major project like new sod or a lawn renovation is also worthwhile.
How long do results take?
Samples are sent to a lab, so results usually take a week or two. Once they are in, we walk you through what they mean and what we recommend.
Is red clay soil a problem?
Not by itself. Red clay holds nutrients well, but it tends to be acidic and compacts easily. A soil test shows whether lime is needed to bring the pH into the range where grass can use the nutrients already in the ground.
